Dot To Dot Nail Art Inspired by the Ciate Book Of Nail Style!

Hello everyone, happy Sunday! What a beautiful day it has been today aye! Hope you all have had a lovely weekend, and ready to take on a new week!

I have this pretty nail art design today for you all, that was inspired from the Ciate book of nail style. Ever since receiving this book from a lovely friend of mine for Christmas, I have been eager to create some of the nail art looks from it and literally just in love with this nail book overall. Thank you to my lovely friend for getting me this, as I have found a new favourite book with lots of fab ideas in it that I can try and re-create. This book has lots of advice, tips & tricks & lots of different nail art designs in it. I would highly recommend it if your looking for some simple nail art designs and wanting to learn more about all things nails.

Anyways, let's get onto the nail art design, which is this lovely dot to dot look that I decided to re-create myself today, which I love by the way, hehe! I wanted to re-create this, to show you all how simple nail art can really add a different look to the nails with not much effort and even still with a simple design like this, it can be changed up to create different styles from it, if that makes sense.

I was a little naughty and didn't actually use Ciate's polishes today-oopsie, I don't really know why, but instead chose to use these pretty Nars polishes, as I love the 2 colours together. For Ciate's look they used a pale pink colour as the base and then used a darker blue to create the dots. I chose to use Nars pale green called  'Thasos' & blue colour called 'Ikiru'. I love these colours, some of my favourite and they paint on so beautifully.

With this pretty dot to dot design I decided to change it up a bit and do it in reverse too, so it looked slightly different on the nails, creating a different contrast to it. What I mean by that is that, in the book they recommended using a lighter base with a darker colour for the dots, which I did on some of the nails, but then reversed it and did darker to lighter on the other nails to mix it up.

As I said this is very simple, all I did was:

  • Applied a base coat, then applied 2 coats of chosen colours. Painting 3 nails with the green colour & the other 2 nails with the blue colour, doing alternated nails.
  • Once dried, using my dotting tool, I dotted around the outer edge of the nails with the darker colours on the alternate nails. Then waited around 20 minutes to dry & applied top coat.
And that's how easy & simple this nail art design is, if you are a beginner to nail art this is really effective but easy to do. If you don't have a dotting tool then you can just use the end of a bobby pin to create the dots.

I really love this nail art design, I think these colours with it are perfect for spring / summer time nails but is a timeless design that can be done any time of the year, using different colours depenidng on the season etc. I love how it's just so simple but the light and dark adds a contrast to the nails.

Let me know what you think & if you will try it yourself?
